If your Oculus Quest 2 does not connect to Wi-Fi, that can be something of a problem. While the Quest 2 is designed to be a standalone device, it still relies on a network connection in order to download updates, stream media content, or even access new games.
The good news is, there are things you can do, in order to address Wi-Fi connectivity issues on your Quest 2. And, as if by some sort of serendipitous coincidence, that's exactly what we'll be addressing here.
What To Do If Your Oculus Quest 2 Does Not Connect To Wi-Fi
If your Oculus Quest 2 isn't connecting to Wi-Fi, the following are a few possible fixes worth attempting:
- Perhaps most obviously, make sure the password you are entering for your Wi-Fi network is correct.
- Make sure your Wi-Fi network is working correctly. Try connecting with a different device, and see if there are any issues.
- If you are far away from the router, try moving closer, in order to boost the strength of the connection.
- Bear in mind as well, that if you are trying to conenct via a public Wi-Fi connection, for instance in an airport or hotel, you may encounter a captive portal. These are web pages that you have to interact with before accessing the internet. These won't work when you are setting up your Quest 2. They may however, work after this.
- Other general fixes include restarting the router, or forgetting the Wi-Fi network, then trying to reconnect.

Reboot/Reset your Headset
If none of the above steps has resolved your problem, then consider rebooting your headset. To do this, hold down the power button on your Quest 2 until you see a prompt with a shut-down screen. At this point, select Restart.
If this doesn't work, then you may need to consider a factory reset of your headset. To do this:
- Turn off your Quest 2.
- Hold the power button and volume button down at the same time. Keep them held down until the boot screen appears on your headset.
- Use the volume buttons to highlight the Factory Reset option. Press power to select.
- Press power again to select Yes.
If none of these fixes helps, then it's probably time to contact Oculus themselves for additional support. You can raise a support ticket, and Oculus will endeavour to provide a solution. But what are the causes of a Wi-Fi connection issue?
Causes Of A Wi-Fi Connection Error
There are several potential causes for this sort of issue. The most common ones are as follows:
- A weak signal, which can prevent your headset from actually seeing the network to join in the first place. Moving closer, or connecting with another netowrk (for instance, by setting up a hotspot) can help.
- Using the wrong password is a surprisingly common cause for your Quest 2 failing to connect to Wi-Fi.
- We mentioned captive portals earlier on. These public Wi-Fi networks can sometimes throw up issues with connecting to your Quest 2.
- Finally, hardware issues can also cause connection problems.
These are by far the most common causes of this problem. But with the solutions we recommended above, hopefully, you'll soon be back online.
