Does the Oculus Quest 2 come in black? We all love a bit of customisation, and the ability to express a little bit of our personality. But does the Quest 2 allow you to do this, or are you resigned to being able to choose white, and white only?
The Quest 2 is slightly unusual because of its white colour. The original Quest, and the Oculus Rift, are both black. Maybe Oculus wanted to make this distinctive from its predecessor. But having been out since September 2020, have they finally made different colours available?
Does The Oculus Quest VR Headset Come In Black Or Different Colours?
Um...no. At the time of writing, the Oculus Quest 2 does not come in black, or any other colours. To paraphrase Henry Ford, you can have any colour you like, as long as it's white.
If you go on their website, you won't be given any colour options to select from. Historically, Oculus headsets have tended to only come in one colour. As disappointing as this is, there are probably very practical, cost-related reasons for this.
Production lines are expensive, and every colour of headset would presumably require a separate production line, which would cost money. And we know businesses aren't inclined to spend money if they don't need to.
There's also the issue of forecasting demand. While you may be able to predict how many headsets you are going to sell, it would be much harder to predict how many white, how many black, and how many yellow, for example. An error in forecasting could lead to mountains of stock in an unpopular colour, just gathering dust.
There's also the fact that the original Quest came in black. If both headsets were available in the same colour, this could run the risk of people struggling to tell which one is which. Which, from a marketing standpoint, isn't ideal.
And finally, there's the simple question of, does it really matter? After all, you're inside the headset, so you can't actually see what colour it is.

Customisation is a Possibility
While Oculus themselves don't produce the Quest 2 in any colour other than white, there are a wealth of customisation options out there in the world. Third-party sellers who have created skins in just about every colour or pattern you can imagine, to suit your individual personality and preferences.
So if you do find yourself desperate to change the look of your Quest 2, a quick search online will give you an abundance of potential options to choose from. Often, they'll also come with decals to go on your controllers as well.
But if you're hoping for Oculus to start supplying a variety of colours? We'd advise that you don't hold your breath.
