Even with huge leaps in graphics for desktop PC's and even ARM devices with Apple's M1 chip, there's always a hunger from some consumers for powerful GPU's in laptops.
AMD and NVIDIA are currently fighting it out to make sure that their new 300x and 600x graphics cards are in stock, making sure that scammers aren't taking over the orders across the world.
At CES 2021 at their own event, NVIDIA announced their new line of mobile GPU, starting with the RTX 3060, 3070 and 3080.
With that, lets look into what's been announced so far for the GeForce 3000 Mobility series.
Specifications
At CES 2021, NVIDIA announced three graphics cards for the laptop line; 3060, 3070 and 3080.
Featuring NVIDIA's recommended specifications for laptops, their mobile GPU will fall into the below categories. If you're looking for a laptop and there's similar specs to the below, there's a good chance that you'll also see the desired NVIDIA GPU in the machine as well.
One big takeaway from this is that they're officially supporting AMD Ryzen, which was unheard of previously. However, NVIDIA have conceded to the fact that consumers are switching to the Ryzen series more and more, mainly thanks to their affordable pricing and performance gains.
Featuring whisper-mode 2.0 so there won't be too much fan noise, alongside dynamic boost so the GPU can speed up or down dependant on the game, these are two enticing GPU's for a laptop.

Features
NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3070 Mobility looks to be using 5120 CUDA cores, operating at speeds of up to 1.6 GHz. The card will also be able to offer up to 8 GB of GDDR6 video memory.
The smaller brother, the RTX 3060 Mobility, will feature 3072 CUDA cores, as well as 6 GB of GDDR6 memory with a 192-bit bus width, which will be ideal for anyone wanting a gaming laptop.
And the 3080, of course, will be the most powerful of the bunch. The reveal event even showed a 3080 laptop running Microsoft Flight Simulator on massive a three-display rig.
Of course, one aspect that NVIDIA needs to focus on with laptops is battery. Apparently from sources, there will be features here that will be able to underclock the mobile GPU when needed, further prolonging the battery.
