- Quick Answer: Nutmeg is receiving a significant update on June 11th that adds historical World Cup matches, new events, and challenging game modes to its unique football simulation and deck-building gameplay.
Quite a few football games are competing to get your attention during the FIFA World Cup. From Konami's Switch 2 exclusive eFootball Kick-Off! (which isn't half bad) to GOALS (which is very bad). One that I feel is truly special is Nutmeg.
A mixture of simulation titles like football manager and deck-building games, it's nailed the presentation and the addictive nature of both genres, and this June 11, right as the World Cup kicks off with Mexico vs South Africa, Nutmeg will receive a major update that will introduce iconic World Cup matches, new events to enhance matchday experience, and a new Cup mode.

The game is set in the 80s and 90s, so the World Cup events highlighted include matches in the 1986 and 1999 tournaments, where you can completely change the course of history by helping England overtake Argentina or West Germany.
Once you're done fantasizing about England being a competent national team, you can hop on the Egg Cup, where 56 teams will duke it out for glory.
If you've mastered Nutmeg, the new Gaffer difficulty mode will be right up your alley, as it makes broadcasted matches tougher with bigger challenges to overcome on every front, from financial to matchday length being longer.
Another thing I greatly appreciate is that this update will let you select the players to start in a match you're not taking control of, which got under my skin a little bit.
Overall, if you're a football fan or have the itch to try something new in the genre, I can't recommend Nutmeg enough.
