Some quests within No Rest for the Wicked could be somewhat befuddling to complete, but our walkthrough for The Innkeeper's Husband Quest takes the edge off for you.

When you make it to Sacrament, doors of opportunity swing open for you in No Rest for the Wicked. You'll find yourself retracing your steps to this key location at various intervals throughout the game. Aside from inviting rewards, quests are intricately tied to the overarching narrative of the game, so skipping them isn’t on the agenda.

No Rest for the Wicked The Innkeeper's Husband Quest Walkthrough

Above all else, you have no choice but to confront Warrick the Torn. Warrick is your first test in No Rest for the Wicked, and once you beat him, you'll gain access to Sacrament. When you land in Sacrament, chances are you'll run into Caroline, who manages The Dusty Loom.

It was a busy place where people could unwind before it was wrecked by the fire. Even if you wanted to, there's no way for you to lend a hand in rebuilding her inn for now, but you can help her search for her resident chef's missing husband, Gordon.

As you talk with Caroline, you'll soon realize that her husband hasn't returned yet after heading out to gather supplies for their inn. It will be somewhat of a hunt, but there are specific spots you can explore to locate him and piece together the story.

You must backtrack to Mariner’s Keep, all the way to its edge where it meets the shallows (the game’s starting area). Revisit the shattered tower where the first Cerim Whisper was encountered.

You need to be vigilant since the Risen enemies are all over the Mariner's Keep and have reclaimed the territory since your last visit. Apart from enemies, you must also heed any sounds you may detect.

As you get closer to the tower, the distant calls of a man from above will reach you, and then you have to identify the source of the shouting. Considering how much you will need to backtrack, you can at least minimize your travel time by using Cerim Whisper (located at the bottom of the tower) to fast-travel back.

Interact with it first to save progress before heading up to the top. Two ladders stand between you and Gordon, who finds himself stranded at the top on the opposite end after being chased by Risen.

When you chat with him, he will then recount how the Risen attacked while he was fishing. He narrowly escaped them but ended up stranded on the bridge, unable to reach the tall ladder to the west. As you look for another way out for him, you'll find a western bridge key alongside a lifeless body on the ground. You'll need to grab it as soon as you lay your eyes on it. It could mean the difference between life and death for Gordon.

Backtracking becomes relevant once more as you need to retrace your steps to Mariner’s Keep. Near the top of the area, to the left, there's a locked door next to the Cerim Whisper, which you might have missed earlier.

You'll recognize it as the right one when it emits a luminous blue light. Use the left-hand stairs near the doorway to access a ladder. Climb up the ladder, head east, and you'll reach another set of stairs leading to a door.

The only way to open that door is with the Western Bridge key you've taken. Expect the presence of a Risen Archer who will stop at nothing to attack you from afar. Move in fast to either block their shots or even dodge their arrows.

You'll then spot a wooden plank surface with an opening, but it's also flanked by a pair of Risen Soldiers guarded by a daunting armored Risen Hammer Warrior.

Once they're out of the way, manipulate the large wheel located at the end of the corridor to trigger the opening of the nearby gate. Since you're there, you might as well capitalize on the chance to check the northward rooms first. You could find a chest and other lootables.

Just swing left past the chest, slide through all the doors, and you'll be right where Gordon is. You need to lower the ladder from the tower to Gordon, which gives him a means of escape. Once this is done, have a chat with Gordon to wrap up the Innkeeper’s Husband's side quest.

That covers the ins and outs of completing the Innkeeper’s Husband's quest and ensuring Caroline is reunited with her husband. If you're after more, check out our guides on how to save game and repair equipment in No Rest for the Wicked.
