How To Fix NHL 23 Unable To Connect To EA Server Error
The unable to connect to the EA server error is not exclusive to NHL 23. The latest football sim game FIFA 23 has connection errors and even the NHL 22 was having the same issue. Thankfully, there are some already known solutions to fix this problem.
Follow the troubleshooting tips mentioned below to fix the NHL 23 connect to EA server error.
Check the server status
Start by ensuring the NHL servers are up and running. Go over here, search for NHL 23 and then click the Server Status button. If it is green, it means everything is working as intended.
If it is yellow or red, it could mean that the server is under maintenance, or there could be a problem on their end. Also, check @EAHelp on Twitter to find out what’s happening, and to get real-time updates when servers are down.
Power cycle your network device
If the servers are working as they should, the problem might be on your end. Let's start with your network device. Give it a restart. unplug your modem/router from the power outlet.
After 2 minutes power on the modem/router. Wait for all panel lights on your network device to become green before testing your internet connection.
Try a different Domain Name System (DNS)
If something is wrong with the DNS you are using, you can have a hard time trying to connect to the Internet.
If that is the case, try using alternate DNS settings with the instructions here. If you don't see a difference, try the Google DNS servers. Those are:
- Primary alt number: 8.8.8.8
- Secondary alt number: 8.8.4.4
On Xbox, clear alternate MAC address
If you are on Xbox, first, restart it or perform a full power cycle or physically disconnect your Xbox console to reboot it. Afterwards, try clearing your alternate MAC address with these steps:
- Go to your Xbox Settings
- Go to "Network", then "Advanced Network Settings"
- Click on "Alternate MAC Address", and then click "Clear"
Also, try changing the NAT type to Open to improve the connection speed. You can find the instruction here.
On PS4 or PS5, change the NAT type
If you are playing on PS4 or PS5, power cycle your PlayStation console. Then change the NAT type to Type 1 as it offers more bandwidth and stability for online gaming. Here is how to do it.
- Go to your Router Login Page.
- Log in using your required information.
- Navigate to your router's port settings.
- Open the following ports for your PS. TCP: 1935, 3478-3480; UDP: 3074, 3478-3479
- Once you save those settings, restart your router.
- Next, restart your PS5.
- Go through the steps above for testing your PS5's internet connection.
- Your NAT type should now be NAT type 1 or Open NAT.
Hopefully, one of the suggestions we have mentioned will work for you. In case it does not, your only option is to reach out to the EA support team via the official Twitter page or the EA NHL 23 support website.
