What is New Pokemon Snap?

New Pokémon Snap is a brand-new version of the iconic Pokémon title from the Nintendo 64.

It revolves around capturing images of different rare Pokémon in their natural habitats, before getting these images rated by Professor Oak.

New Pokémon Snap is set to take place on a collection of different islands with their own unique environments. Much like the original game, it is likely these islands are separate from one distinct Pokémon region.

When will New Pokemon Snap release?

No official release date was given for New Pokémon Snap, and it is unlikely we will get it in the next few months as Tsunekazu Ishihara, the President of The Pokémon Company, revealed it is still in development.

The trailer showed off some Bellossom dancing next to a sign that read the game is 'Under Construction'.

However, as we saw actual in-game footage of New Pokémon Snap, it is likely the game is closer to release than the other 'big project' teased in the Pokémon Presents event, rumoured to be a Diamond and Pearl remake.

What Pokemon were seen in the New Pokemon Snap trailer?

New Pokémon Snap is not just a remaster of the original game, as new Pokémon were shown off being photographed by the player.

One of these Pokémon was Scorbunny, the fire starter Pokémon for the latest Sword and Shield games. This suggests we will see Pokémon from all 8 generations of Pokémon.

Aside from Scorbunny, the trailer showed off the following Pokémon:

  • Tauros
  • Vivillion
  • Wailord
  • Pikachu
  • Crabrawler
  • Swanna
  • Pelliper
  • Zangoose
  • Drifblim

What is the price of New Pokemon Snap?

GameStop has now opened its pre-orders for New Pokémon Snap, which it prices at $59.99. This is the standard price for a AAA game in the current state of gaming, so we can expect this to translate to £49.99.

Of course, since this game is still quite a way off, this pre-order price could still be a placeholder.

Where can I pre-order New Pokemon Snap?

New Pokémon Snap has not yet appeared on any sites for a pre-order listing in the UK, but it's worth checking Amazon and the Nintendo Store regularly to get in your pre-order.
