It looks like Atlus will be releasing new Persona games on all platforms from here on out after years of being known as a PlayStation-first franchise.
Gaming insider Pan-Hime commented on numerous rumours about the series, particularly, the Persona 3 Remake and the upcoming Persona 5 T. While the insider didn’t really say anything new, they did reveal a new initiative for developer Atlus.
“The Atlus initiative for releasing games on all platforms is real,” said Pan-Hime.
While the news hasn’t been confirmed by Atlus or SEGA, this is a beneficial move for everyone if true. Fans have been wanting the series to go multi-platform for the longest time, especially since it was never really PlayStation-exclusive.
Fans have been enjoying the mainline Persona games ever since their multiplatform releases. Persona 5 Royal, in particular, was in heavy demand by Switch fans so it's good to see it there. It’s also worth noting that Persona 4 Golden was successful on Steam after being PS Vita-exclusive for so long.
Prior to this, fans were expecting to hear about Persona 3 Remake being PlayStation-exclusive, at least until the Xbox rumours. Microsoft’s brand was the first to announce new Persona ports before coming to everything else, so the move makes sense. If the rumours are true, expect a ton of hype, given how much fans love this entry.
Now that there are rumours of the series getting multi-platform releases from here on out, the sky’s the limit for Persona. While it’s likely that Nintendo Switch will get downgraded ports later on, having the series immediately available on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC is great news. Hopefully, this ends up being true since there’s really no reason for Atlus to always release their games on PlayStation first.
