Netflix is still one of the most popular streaming services available, if not the most, even with major competition from Disney, Paramount, and the like. However, as technology grows, the streaming service has to leave some devices behind, including older televisions and the PS Vita.

You heard that right. The PS Vita. Just so you know, Vita means life.

FlatpanelsHD reported that the streaming service will no longer be available on older Sony, Panasonic, and Hitachi televisions. Some blu-ray players from Samsung will also be affected, unfortunately, with no real reason being given by the company itself.

Tragically, this also affects the PS Vita and PlayStation TV, as both devices will no longer support Netflix. Of course, most fans are surprised at the fact that Netflix was even on these systems, given how even Sony threw them under the bus.

Major factor fans on Reddit have noticed is that these devices have to be at least 10 or so years old. We don’t know if Netflix will be doing this every year, but with the app consistently growing, it seems that support on older devices is slowly becoming impossible, much to our chagrin.

It seems the streaming service will still be safe on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and a number of modern televisions. Sadly, the Switch isn’t home to Netflix, despite being a fairly popular feature on the Wii, Wii U, and 3DS.

While Netflix will always be known for being home to shows like Bojack Horseman or Sex Education, the company is attempting to branch out into gaming. The company is working on its cloud gaming service, alongside plans to develop and publish its own titles. At the time of writing, we haven’t much from the company outside of some Stranger Things tie-in titles, but that could always change.

Netflix is readily available on pretty much every device out right now. There are various monthly and yearly fees.
