As the market of handheld or portable PCs grows each passing year, the leaked MSI Claw looks to take some of the market share from Valve, Lenovo, and ASUS. However, MSI's upcoming product is potentially using Intel over AMD.
A new MSI handheld has been teased ahead of CES 2024, and thanks to some recent leaks, here's everything we know about the "MSI Claw" ahead of its announcement.
MSI Claw release date estimate
Currently, there's no release date for the MSI Claw, with MSI likely to announce the launch date during CES 2024. However, we'd expect the product to arrive sometime during Q1 2024 and Q2 2024.
This would give MSI some time to market the product, as well as let people save money after an expensive holiday period. The marketing material that shows the design of the product was shared by @wnxod on Twitter, but seems to have been shared prematurely by MSI China.
MSI Claw specs leak
According to a recent leak via GeekBench (via VideoCardz), the leaked specs for the MSI Claw could be:
Component | Type |
---|---|
CPU | Intel Core Ultra 7 155H (16 core/22 thread) |
iGPU | Intel Arc 8-cores |
Memory | 32GB RAM |
Interestingly, if the leaks are to be believed, the 32 GBs of RAM means it offers twice the memory of the ASUS ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go. What remains to be seen is whether the integrated GPU will be able to keep up with, or maybe even outperform the AMD-integrated RDNA that many devices use, including the MSI Claw's rivals.
Unfortunately, the specs for the battery, weight, and storage capacity have yet to be revealed. However, we'd expect the battery life to try and compete with the other handheld PCs in the market, with the storage type likely being an SSD, especially with how great SSD pricing is right now.
MSI Claw price
Unfortunately, the price for the MSI Claw has yet to be revealed too. However, we'd expect it to land between £600 / $600 - £800 / $800 in order to directly compete with the Lenovo and ASUS portable devices.
It's likely that the price will be revealed during CES 2024, and it's possible that MSI might release different versions of the MSI Claw to offer alternatives.
That's everything we know about the MSI Claw right now, but as CES 2024 comes and goes, we expect to hear more about MSI's exciting new device.
