Mortal Kombat 1 is once again shaming players who give up mid-match with the exciting return of Quitalities. As the name implies, these are special deaths for those who decide to quit during a game between two players.
Twitter user @PNDKetchup discovered the return of this fan-favorite mechanic during the game’s most recent Stress Test. Players can see the post below, showing what happens when anyone tries to be a sore loser during the game. Losing sucks but quitting mid-match is the worst, so these animations are great.
Based on the post, it looks like the chosen character will kill themselves if the player decides to “use” a Quitality. While dark, it’s the kind of thing that has made this series incredibly popular, which is why seeing it in Mortal Kombat 1 is phenomenal. This probably won’t stop players from doing this but its a neat reward for those that are left behind, at the least.
Quitalities have been around since Mortal Kombat X, showing players what happens when they rage quit games. Technically, this is a great way to show players why they shouldn’t be doing this in the first place. However, those that are curious might quit just to see what all of the character’s Quitalities look like.
Either way, it seems like NetherRealm has another winner in their hands if everything goes according to plan. As much as fans love to see rage quitters off themselves (only in the game, of course), many are excited to see the Story Mode. NetherRealm has done a fantastic job with its single-player content, which is why the release of a new Mortal Kombat or Injustice is worth celebrating.

Of course, Mortal Kombat 1 is going to have some stiff competition when the game comes out on September 19. Capcom’s Street Fighter 6 has seemingly taken the crown of this year’s best fighting game, at least thus far. Tekken 8 is also coming out soon and that game can also quickly turn the tide.
