Mortal Kombat 1 is continuing NetherRealm’s output for good single-player content in a fighting game. In addition to another Story Mode with great-looking cutscenes, the upcoming Invasions mode looks like a much better version of Smash Ultimate’s World of Light.

Like World of Light before it, Invasion is a board game-style mode where players can level up their chosen character. Unlike Smash’s mode, however, there’s actually a point to playing the mode, as there are various unlockables players can get for playing the mode.

Eren from Gamer Advantage also points out how Invasions will also be home to the beloved Test Your Might and Endurance mini-games. Mortal Kombat 1 wouldn’t be an MK game without these mini-games.

Players will be able to unlock character skins, gear, stages, and so much more when going through the mode, replacing the controversial Krypt of the last game. While players could unlock more characters in Smash’s World of Light, fans can also do the same thing by playing Classic Mode constantly.

Overall, the addition of Invasions to Mortal Kombat 1 should be an entertaining mode for players who don’t care about online rankings. Considering how there will also be a Story Mode and Arcade Mode in the game, this is a generous amount of single-player content.

There’s a good amount of effort being put into this fighter, like the Quitalities that make fun of online quitters. Fans of Superman allegories are also getting Homelander and Omni Man in the same game, with us interested in seeing how differently they will play.

While fans do like all of this content, there are some who are critical about the game. A gratuitous amount of gore aside, there are also players who are overly critical of the janky animations. Most of us are also curious about how the Nintendo Switch version will perform, especially since there are no PS4 or Xbox One ports.
