How to fix Modern Warfare 2 permanent ban 2022

Does Modern Warfare 2 permanent ban mean you will never be able to play the game again? Well, not really!

If you feel that you’ve been banned unfairly on Modern Warfare 2, you can appeal your ban by contacting Activision. They will investigate the case and determine whether or not your ban is justified. If it turns out that your ban is unjustified, the ban will be overturned.

So, let's see how to unban your account from Modern Warfare 2. We'll start by looking at whether you are eligible to get unbanned.

What is the policy?

When playing Modern Warfare 2 or any other Call of Duty titles, every player is expected to adhere to the Call of Duty Security and Enforcement Policy. These rules ensure that everyone has a fun and safe time while playing, so breaking these rules can result in account removal.

Activision recommends you review the following before submitting an appeal to know whether you are eligible to get unbanned.

  • The account holder is responsible for any infraction on the account. Penalties are applied no matter who was playing at the time. This means using excuses like someone else was playing on your account at the time of the violation will not lead to the unban of your account.
  • Decisions made as part of the appeals process are considered final. This means repeated submissions or appeals sent through other channels won't help your case.
  • If your account is confirmed to be permanently banned for a violation of the Security and Enforcement Policy, it will not be overturned unless they determine the infraction was due to unauthorized activity on your Activision account.

So, are you eligible to submit an appeal? Well, if your account has been accessed by an unauthorised person, then you can appeal the decision and there is a chance for your account to get unbanned from Modern Warfare 2.

How to fix Modern Warfare 2 permanent ban

The only way to fix a permanent ban on Modern Warfare 2 is by appealing against the decision.

If you believe you’ve been wrongfully removed from Modern Warfare 2, appealing your ban may help you get back into the game. You can submit an appeal by clicking here and following the on-screen instructions.

Once you’ve submitted your appeal, you’ll just have to be patient. Activision stated that they won’t provide any updates in the midst of the investigation. So when you do finally hear back, it will be with a final decision.

And as we mentioned before, once they have made a decision, it is considered final. If your appeal is unsuccessful, and the permanent ban is enforced, you’re pretty stuck. You may have the temptation to appeal, but you should refrain from doing so as it is just a waste of time. They are not going to change their mind.

Your only option will be to begin again with a brand new account. And maybe not cheat next time. It would be wise to take a look at the Call of Duty Security and Enforcement Policy before you start anew.

It seems players are already getting banned from Modern Warfare 2 even before the full game is released. The Reddit user Bender99342 revealed that Activision has permanently banned them from the Modern Warfare 2 servers for some reason.

You can get banned from Call of Duty titles for a variety of reasons such as spoofing, usage of unsupported peripherals and applications, and of course, usage of unauthorized software for cheating/modding/hacking.

Although Bender99342 asserts that they didn't cheat (deliberately), the RICOCHET anti-cheat system might have detected some suspicious activity and banned them.

Bender99342 mentioned that they also did verify the game files and some Reddit users pointed out that doing so while the game is open might count as modifying game data on disk or in memory, which is a violation of Call of Duty Security and Enforcement Policy.

That seems to be the logical explanation for why they were banned. Another possible conclusion is that this is a glitch. Activision hasn't provided any clarification on this ban yet, so we're still left to speculate.

Crashing equals ban

It is not only the players who are verifying the game file getting banned by Activision. A lot of players that experienced crashes in the story or multiplayer mode are also getting permanently banned, which makes the situation worse.

Issues in Modern Warfare 2 such as the scan and repair error, the dev error 6036 and the error code 0x887a0005 are causing the game to crash during gameplay multiple times, and as a result, players are banned (probably for leaving the game early multiple times).

Recently, it has been discovered that a bug in the latest Nvidia driver update is responsible for the crashing issue. the devs are already working on it, and hopefully, it will be patched soon.

If you are one of those who have been wrongfully banned due to the crashing issue, you can follow our guide to get your ban overturned.
