Microsoft opens suspend feature to everyone on Xbox Insider

Microsoft announced today that all Omega Ring testers on its insider program can now download the latest update featuring ‘Suspend My Play’.

The feature enables users to suspend their current active game in order to download games faster. Once the download is finished, gamers can resume exactly from where they left off.

The update released to a smaller group of users on the program earlier in March. Today, Xbox announced that the feature is now available to those on Xbox Insider’s Omega Ring.

The Omega Ring on Xbox Insider is available to anyone who wants to opt in. Updates released on the Omega Ring are usually made available to all Xbox users shortly after. We can likely expect the update within the next few weeks.

Xbox Updates

The Insider Program update also featured a number of fixes and improvements based on user feedback.

Xbox Engineers fixed issues regarding: black or blank screens on startup, error codes when launching games and a bug which would stop users from sharing game clips or images to Twitter.

In the announced update, Microsoft also discusses a number of bugs it is still working on. These bugs include: problems with the audio mixer not working correctly, misplaced icons and apps closing unexpectedly.

Insider Program

The Xbox Insider program started in 2018, allowing Xbox users to preview updates ahead of general release. Sampling updates within the program allows Microsoft to test updates out before releasing them publicly.

The official Reddit page for the Insider community has over 177,000 subscribers, showing just how successful the program is.

Microsoft interacts with the subreddit directly, taking ideas and feedback from users which is passed directly on to engineers and developers.

Microsoft announced earlier this week that Xbox Insiders could test the free-to-play multiplayer feature, which removes the need for Xbox Live Gold when playing free online titles.
