An entire playthrough for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has leaked ahead of release, and fans are not happy with the results. While many fans were already uninterested in the new Middle Earth game, the new footage has soured interest even more.

While the full walkthrough has since been deleted, users on Reddit were able to see the game in action and they didn’t have nice things to say. Most agreed that it looked average at best and uninspired at worst, which is probably why they ended up charging for Elven language DLC.

“It's one of the games ever,” says k_adrix.

“God it weirdly reminds me of a terrible version of Hellblade,” claimed CXXXS.

“These guys just wanted to remake Styx in LOTR. And that's what they did,” chimed in amethystwyvern.

Considering how Lord of the Rings: Gollum is one of the first games we’ve seen from this franchise in a long while, the reception doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. Obviously, there’s hope that this is just an early build of the game and that the final product will be an improvement. However, it’s clear that the game is done and any changes made will be minimal, at best.

Now that people have seen this game in action, all we can do is wait for official word of mouth. Although some gamers were able to see it, the fact that this video has since been deleted means others won’t be able to.

Even if Lord of the Rings: Gollum doesn’t do well, there is already a plan to release more Lord of the Rings games in the future. We still don’t know what kind of games these will be but we’re sure some of them are going to be Free-to-Play mobile games. Some of us are quietly hoping we get re-releases of the movie tie-in games from EA or the weird RPGs like War of the North and Third Age.
