Major changes are being made to Atomic Heart, as the first-person shooter will be dropping its previously-announced multiplayer mode for a purely single-player experience. It’s a surprising move since most games tend to shoo in multiplayer for the sake of clout or microtransactions.

The announcement is also kind of late since this game will supposedly be coming out next month. Prior to this, the shooter was scheduled for a 2022 release and the developers even denied a delay was coming before announcing it themselves.

Hopefully, removing the Atomic Heart multiplayer entirely leads to a more cohesive shooter experience when the final product comes out. Most had assumed that Atomic Heart would never come out, so the fact that we’re one month away from its release is somewhat refreshing.

Mudfish, the studio working on Atomic Heart, confirmed to Wccftech that the game will not have any multiplayer elements. Furthermore, there are no plans to add any multiplayer mode as of this writing, with all of the focus on the game’s single-player campaign.

"The entire Atomic Heart experience will be single-player, focusing on the story and player experience," said game director Robert Bagratuni. "No multiplayer add-ons are planned at this time."

Despite now launching without multiplayer, Bagratuni did confirm that there would be post-game content for the open-world shooter. Four DLC packs are currently being planned, which will include "new territories, quests, puzzles, enemies, as well as character and world stories."

For those curious, the multiplayer mode would mostly be PVP. A specific region in the game would lead players to a PVP area where multiplayer battles could have been had. It seems that mode didn’t gel with the rest of the game, hence the cancelation.
