Great news for gamers who want to play Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth on the go, as the new RGG Studio RPG has been verified for Steam Deck.
The news comes from Steam Deck HQ, who have confirmed that Infinite Wealth has been confirmed to work on Valve's powerful handheld. Although they clarified this isn't indicative of the game shipping with good performance, it certainly poses well for fans of the Like a Dragon series, formerly known as the Yakuza series in the West.
Previous games in the series are playable to some degree on the Steam Deck. Based on how they performed, it's expected that Infinite Wealth runs relatively well with low to medium-quality settings at 30 FPS, of course, this is all mere speculation at this point.
RGG Studio launched two games in 2023, Like a Dragon: Ishin, a remaster of a previously exclusive to Japan spin-off set in the Edo period, and Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Own Name, a spin-off set to tie some loose ends between Like a Dragon 7 and Infinite Wealth, both running relatively well on the Steam Deck.
Ishin could hit a steady 40 FPS by running it on medium settings, even able to reach 50 or 60 FPS albeit becoming a less smooth experience. Gaiden, despite being a newer game built from the ground up on the Dragon Engine, ran at a similar framerate with the same specifications as Ishin, an Unreal Engine 4 title.
Of course, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is a much more involved experience, with RGG Studio creating their biggest explorable map to date in Honolulu, Hawaii, plus the ability to visit previous fan-favourite franchise locations like Yokohama. So you might want to fully tinker with the settings to get the best experience possible with this one.
Speaking of which, we recommend you check out the Infinite Wealth PC system requirements, so you can get an idea of how well could the Steam Deck potentially run it when it releases on January 26.
