What was initially thought to be the Lenovo Legion Phone 2 Pro has been officially revealed as the Lenovo Legion Duel 2. Aiming to be the new extreme for gaming smartphones, Lenovo's latest tech reveal is a portable powerhouse.
Designed to capitalise on the massive audience of mobile gamers, the Lenovo Legion Duel 2 is as gamer as it comes. Watch out ROG, there's a new kid on the block!
How powerful is the Lenovo Legion Duel 2?
A gaming phone is nothing without raw power and the on-paper specs of the Lenovo Legion Duel 2 lead to a very powerful machine. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G that will be the core of all flagships this year, Lenovo has paired the new phone with a shocking 18GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
All of this is underneath a 144Hz 2460x1080 HDR 10+ AMOLED display backed by an extreme 720Hz touch sampling rate digitizer. While not the fastest refresh rate on a phone, the digitizer underneath should make it one of the smoothest mobile gaming experiences.
The Lenovo Legion Duel 2 has been designed with mobile controls in mind. In order to create a footprint that feels like a console controller, Lenovo has added Octa-Trigger sensors and Dual HaptiX feedback. This won't create a response as clear as physical buttons, but it's as close as phones can get.

What are the cameras like?
The Legion Duel 2 has two rear cameras. The main sensor is a 64MP OV64A block, but Lenovo's focus isn't on the rear. On the front, Lenovo has added a pop-up selfie camera in the middle of the device that can allow users to easily livestream while gaming.
Unique software allows steamers on the Duel 2 to easily stream titles such as PUBG with the pop-up webcam. On top of this, the device even includes overlays, effects and virtual avatars for use in streams.
What is Lenovo Legion Duel 2 dual charging?
The impressive internal specs of the Duel 2 are held together by two 2750mAh batteries that charge simultaneously for faster speeds. This isn't new – OnePlus 9 Pro and other fast-charging devices use this tech – but Lenovo takes it one step further.
For the Lenovo Legion Duel 2, the designers have included a second USB-C charging port. This means that users can plug in two 45W charging cables to fully charge the device in just 30 minutes. Furthermore, if you have lint stuck in a charging port, there's always a backup.
How much does the Lenovo Legion Duel 2 cost?
The Legion Duel 2 will start at €999 for the 16GB/512GB option with a free charging dock. A lower spec 12GB/256GB model will be available without the dock for €799. There's currently no listed price for the 18GB RAM model.
Lenovo's new gaming phone will launch first in China this month under the Lenovo Legion Phone 2 Pro name. The Western release will repeat on select Asian and European markets in May, but there’s no American launch date scheduled.
