The mobile adaptation of Riot's League of Legends will make its way onto the new iPhone 12, as announced at Apple's recent iPhone 12 event.

Riot Games' Executive Producer, Michael Chow, explained that "with the insanely powerful iPhone 12 and Verizon 5G, we believe it's the perfect time to bring League to iOS."

This gaming announcement comes just months after Apple came under fire from many in the gaming community for refusing to allow xCloud streaming on the App Store and removing Fortnite from the store, resulting in a legal battle.

Here's everything you need to know about League of Legends' jump over to iOS.

What is League of Legends: Wild Rift?

League of Legends: Wild Rift is the mobile adaptation of Riot Games' hugely successful League of Legends MOBA.

Rebuilt specifically for mobile devices, Wild Rift will feature the same 5v5 PVP gameplay as the main PC version, albeit with dual-stick touch controls and various balancing tweaks to reflect the mobile gameplay.

It currently features 40 champions, most of which were released in the original League of legends, although Riot Games has promised more champions will be added down the line.

League of Legends: Wild Rift devices

As Wild Rift featured heavily in Apple's gaming section of the iPhone 12 event, it's no surprise to see that Wild Rift will come to iOS devices when it launches.

Riot's Michael Chow praised "the power of the A14 Bionic [chip]" that allowed a "brand-new level of fidelity that you can't find on any other platform, with off the charts GPU performance and frames-per-second."

"On iPhone 12, gameplay is always responsive and unbelievably smooth."

In September, a closed beta launched in Southeast Asia, giving players in the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia a chance to try out Wild Rift. This beta reopened in October to include South Korea and Japan.

How to download League of Legends: Wild Rift
