Things seem to be heating up at Konami. According to a story by Japanese publication Asahi Shimbun Digital, a 41-year-old employee of the studio has been arrested by police after attempting to kill his boss with a fire extinguisher.
Occurring in a Tokyo building in Ginza, the employee used the fire extinguisher to attack and hit the victim at least one time. The suspect was apparently stopped by a fellow employee, before being handed over to a police officer. The 48 year old victim suffered light wounds and a head contusion. Details on the suspect and victim's names have not been made publicly available and Konami has not yet commented on the news.
The two had been working together all the way back in 2020, which was also when several harassment complaints had been lodged by the employee. While Konami denied there was an abuse of power, it had taken measures to make sure the two would not work together. We will update on the news when and if details will be made available.
In other Konami news, the Japanese game company is looking to escape its current negative stigma after a decade of ignoring the games industry. For starters, the studio is looking to create more projects in the Castlevania series, but one project is far more exciting.
According to recent reports, Konami is working on a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater for modern consoles. The company has released a number of remakes in the past, including a complete remake of the first Metal Gear Solid game, The Twin Snakes.
Furthermore, the company is investing heavily in the Silent Hill franchise following the success of Capcom’s Resident Evil remakes. Not only will there be a full remake of Silent Hill 2, but also an upcoming movie adaptation.
