In 2020, Meta introduced the Vanish Mode feature for Facebook Messenger and Instagram platforms. The Vanish Mode automatically deletes all your chats, GIFs, photos, videos, and stickers once you leave the chat and there is no option to save or copy disappearing messages. The main advantage of the Vanish Mode is it saves a lot of storage on your smartphone.
This is a very convenient feature and only works with Instagram users you have already connected with. But, the flaw is you can’t use this feature while chatting with strangers on Instagram.
In our guide, we've got four easy steps to learn how to use Vanish Mode while chatting on Instagram. Let’s jump into it.
How to use Vanish Mode on Instagram
Since Instagram is one of the most popular social media apps, millions of users are active daily. For a better user experience, Instagram introduced the Vanish Mode feature which adds one more layer of privacy to your Instagram chats. Follow the below steps to activate Vanish Mode on Instagram.
We are using an Android smartphone for demonstration, but you can use the same steps to turn on Vanish Mode in iOS too.
Step 1
Launch Instagram on your Android or iOS device. If you've not got the application installed, head to your respective app store to complete the free download.
Step 2
Tap on the message icon located at the top right corner and start scrolling to the person you want to chat with while utilising Vanish Mode to your advantage.
Step 3
Once you open the chat, swipe up to turn on Vanish Mode. Turing off Vanish Mode is easy peasy, swipe up again.
Keep in mind that you can’t forward or copy any messages once you enable Vanish Mode. However, you can take screenshots of the chats but Instagram notifies the person in the chat about it just like Snapchat.
