In order to efficiently destroy your enemies, you'll have to first learn how to target and shoot down the right sections of their ships. In this guide we'll find out how to target a ship's engine in Starfield. Let's take the fight into space.
Using the targeting mode in Bethesda' space game is not that difficult, but in order to use it effiecently you need a bit of practice anyway.
But by reading this guide, you'll know all there is to know to shoot down enemy's engines in as little time as possible. Let's look at how to target a ship's engine in Starfield and destroy them.
How to target a ship's engine in Starfield
In order to efficiently target engines in Starfield, you first need to have upgraded to the Tier 1 of the Targeting control systems skill. You can find this in the Tech Skill Tree part.
Once you've learned this, you can zoom in on various ship parts and can shoot them directly. But how to do it?
First, you have to lock on the ship, which you can do by using A on Xbox or E on your PC's keyboard. Once the system says it has locked in fully, press X on your controller or R on keyboard.
Once you press the button, time will slow down and the view will zoom into the ship. From there, you are able to see various parts of the ship you can shoot, along with choosing your view.
Solve the quest The Old Neighborhood
This is a quest you have to solve by targeting engines, speficially. While you are searching for Moara, Sarah will tell you to go ahead and shoot down the engines of Moara's ship. That is the only way to stop the ship without destroying it.
Naturally, in order to do so you'll have to first have learned the skill, but not in this mission. You can just go ahead and continue shooting, until it will tell you the shields are down.
