How to reset an Xbox Series S

Resetting your Xbox Series S does not actually mean that all your files and data will be gone.

There are three ways to can reset your console - you can do a soft, hard, or factory reset.

By the words alone you may already know the different purposes of each type of reset.

With that, here's how to reset an Xbox Series S.

Reset or hard reset your Xbox Series S

According to Lifewire, your Xbox Series S can undergo a reset or a hard reset.

To reset your console, click the Guide button and go to Profile and System. Choose Power and select Restart Console.

To hard reset your Xbox Series S, press and hold the power button to shut down your console. Then unplug your console from power and wait for at least five minutes to plug it again. Turn on your console afterwards.

Factory reset your Xbox Series S

In any case you would prefer a factory reset for your Xbox Series S, here's how to do it:

  • Press the Guide button and go through the Profile and Settings option.
  • Select System and choose Console info.
  • Click the Reset console and choose the RESET AND REMOVE EVERYTHING for a full factory reset.
  • If you want to keep the data you have on your console, choose the RESET AND KEEP MY GAMES & APPS option.
