Praydog's UEVR mod is one of the best VR mods available. If you install the UEVR mod on your PC, you can play non-VR games built on Unreal Engine (4.8 - 5.3) in virtual reality by connecting your VR headset.
This guide will show you how to set it up and start enjoying your favourite non-VR games in a whole new way, just like you do with your PCVR games. We will also share info about headset compatibility and game compatibility.
UEVR Mod - Headset Compatibility
The UEVR mod works exclusively with PCVR headsets and does not support standalone VR headsets. Therefore, if you have standalone headsets such as the Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, or Quest Pro, you cannot use UEVR.
UEVR Mod - Game Compatibility
Not all Unreal Engine 4 or 5 games are compatible with the UEVR mod. Compatibility depends on the game's design and configuration. You can check the compatibility ranking of games in this Google Sheet (see the "Game Ranking" tab).
How to Install UEVR Mod
Here is how to install the UEVR mod:
- Download UEVR from here and extract the zip file.
- Run UnrealVR.exe as administrator.
- If you are using the Valve Index, select OpenVR. For everything else, select OpenXR.
- Now open the game you wish to play.
- Once the game is launched, go to the UEVR mod application window.
- Select your game from the dropdown menu and click "Inject."
- Now you can put on your headset.
- In the headset, you should see the UEVR menu; re-centre the VR view.
We recommend downloading an additional program called Rai Pal. It can go through your entire library of games and attempt to tell you what engine, and what version of that engine they are using.
Additionally, it offers some level of support for UEVR with automatic launching and displaying user scores for the VR compatibility of specific games. It can also automatically update UEVR when a new version is released.
