If you're the unlucky victim of the MultiVersus Connection Lost error, then you are far from alone. Players across the world are experiencing the same issue, which makes it impossible for them to join the game and actually start playing.
So what is this issue, and is there anything you can do about it? Well, there's a fair bit to unpack, but in good news, yes, you can do something about it.
MultiVersus is still a relatively new game, and as a result, issues are almost inevitable. We've already discussed the MultiVersus lag issue and the offline mode bug, and we'd be surprised if other glitches don't arise. But in the meantime, here's what you can do if you keep getting the connection lost error.
How To Fix MultiVersus Connection Lost Error
As we mentioned earlier, there are plenty of potential fixes for the connection lost error on MultiVersus. Work your way through our suggestions, until you hopefully find the one that works for you.
Check Server Status
Your first step is to check the server status for MultiVersus, to make sure the game is actually running properly. The best place to go is the official Twitter feed @multiversus. They will let you know of any server outages, and also when the servers are back up and running.
If there are outages, then you will just need to wait patiently until the servers are back up and running before trying again.
Restart The Game
the classic, tried-and-tested remedy that is always worth a go. Restarting your PC or console will often fix any glitches that have arisen. And because it's such a simple fix, it's well worth trying before getting into anything more complex.
Try A VPN
If there are any server-related issues, then it might be worth trying a VPN, to see if connecting with a server in a different region might help.
And on the flip side, if you are already using a VPN, try turning it off, to see if connecting to your local server resolves the problem.

Troubleshoot Your Own Internet Connection
Assuming the servers are all working as they should be, then your next step is to make sure your own internet connection is working properly. There are several ways you can approach this:
- Run a speed test to make sure you are getting the speeds you expect.
- Try to make sure your device is close to the router.
- If you are on WiFi, if possible, try using a wired connection instead, as these tend to be more stable.
- Try to minimise the amount of traffic on your network, to give MultiVersus as much bandwidth as possible.
- Restart your router and your device to refresh the connection.
Check For Game Updates
This is a good rule in general, but is especially relevant for games that have just come out, and are in the midst of Beta testing. Updates can often come thick and fast as issues are identified and fixes are pushed.
So look for any pending updates, and install them if you find any.
Verify Integrity Of Game Files
If you are playing on a PC, then running this process will identify any damaged or corrupted files, and repair them. To do this:
- Restart your computer and launch Steam
- Next, you can either right-click the game in your Library, or click the gear icon from the game's Library page on the far right.
- From the drop-down menu, select Properties...
- Select the Local Files tab and click the Verify integrity of game files... button
- Wait for the process to finish. This can take several minutes, so be prepared to wait.
Check Your Antivirus and Firewall
If you have an antivirus and/or a firewall on your network, then it's possible that one or both of these could be preventing the game from accessing the server properly.
You can either make sure that MultiVersus has been added to the safe list, so that it isn't inadvertently blocked. Alternatively, try temporarily disabling your antivirus or firewall, and then try playing the game.
If it works while they are disabled, that strongly points to them being the source of the problem.
Reinstall MultiVersus
If none of the fixes we've suggested works, then it's time to throw the kitchen sink at this, and delete and then reinstall MultiVersus. While this is a little bit annoying, it's got to be worth trying if you actually want to play the game.
Reinstallation can be effective if any of the game files have become damaged or corrupted. It will replace all the old files with shiny new ones, that are hopefully free from any glitches.
If you've reached this point, and you still can't get online, then we'd recommend that you get in touch with the MultiVersus Support Team, who may be able to offer additional advice.

What Causes The MultiVersus Connection Lost Error?
As you can see from the substantial list of possible fixes, there is no singular cause that affects every player. There are plenty of reasons why this error may arise - some are issues at the player's end, while others are totally beyond your control as a gamer.
We say this frequently, but new games do tend to see a host of problems in their early days. And in general, as time goes on, the vast majority of these errors are identified and resolved via game updates and patches.
And quite often, when a new game is released, demand from players spikes, which makes it difficult for the servers to cope with the volume of traffic. This sort of issue tends to disappear quite quickly, as traffic stabilises and servers are brought online to meet demand.
MultiVersus certainly seems to be well-liked by those who have been able to play it thus far. And once you've fixed those connection issues, you'll be able to find out for yourself. Hopefully, you won't encounter the MultiVersus KBI tutorial not working error when you are back in the game.
