As a first-time user, one of the basics you'll want to master is how to eject a disc from your PS4. Although it seems straightforward, the eject button on some PS4 models is not clearly marked, leading to confusion.
Similarly, other basic tasks like changing the background on your PS4, checking downloads, and pausing them might not be as straightforward as you'd expect. You will need an explainer for them
In this guide, we will share two different ways to eject a PS4 disc, so you can easily switch between games or safely store your discs without any hassle.
How to Eject a PS4 Disc Using a Button
The main way that most people will use to eject a disc on PS4 will be to use the button on their PS4. The thing is, it's not always in the same place, and it depends entirely on what kind of PS4 you have.
To eject a disc from your PS4 using the physical button on the console, follow these steps:
- Locate the Eject Button: Depending on your PS4 model, the eject button is located either:
- On the original PS4, it's a small button located next to the power button on the front left side of the console.
- On the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro, the button is also on the front of the console but more clearly marked and easier to identify.
- Press the Eject Button: Gently press the eject button. You should hear a beep indicating the console is processing the eject command.
The disc will partially eject from the slot. Grab the disc by its edges and pull it out completely from the slot.
How to Eject a PS4 Disc Using Your Controller
To eject a disc from your PS4 using the controller, highlight the game that's currently in the disc drive. Press the "Options" button on your controller, and from the side menu, select "Remove Disc" to eject the disc.
Ejecting your disc on a PS4 is as simple as pressing a button. But if for some reason you are having trouble ejecting a disc, for example, because it has become stuck, then Sony offers some guidance on that issue here.
Rest assured that it is extremely rare for a disc to become stuck in the mechanism. For most people, pressing a button will be all you ever need to do.
