With the release of the new PlayStation VR headset, many are now wondering if they'll be able to connect PSVR 2 to a PC.

While the PSVR 2 comes with its own set of titles, connecting the headset to a PC will allow players to access a wider variety of VR games and experiences outside the official PSVR 2 games list.

In this article, we'll explore whether or not it's possible to connect the PSVR 2 to your PC. So, let's get started!

Can you use PSVR 2 on a PC?

Update (23-02-2024): Sony is now testing PSVR 2 support for PC and they hope to make the support available in 2024.

While the PSVR 2 is designed exclusively for PS5, it is possible to use it on a PC with the right software/driver. However, at the moment, there is no driver software that you can use to achieve this feat.

Software like Trinus PSVR or iVRy was used to connect the original PSVR headset to PC. Basically, these tools stream the video output from your PC to the PSVR headset and translate the headset's motion and orientation into an input that your PC can use.

Since the PSVR 2 has different hardware and improved technology compared to the original PSVR, it is not compatible with Trinus PSVR or other software. Hopefully, someone will release new software that can handle all the communication between your PC and PSVR 2.

But as iVRy’s developer pointed out on Reddit recently, it is a lot of work to develop software that supports PSVR 2's inside-out tracking, haptic feedback, and controllers.

Obviously, it would be far better if Sony just released PC drivers, though.

How to connect PSVR 2 to PC

To connect PSVR 2 to your PC, it is essential to have software or a driver that acts as a bridge between the headset and the operating system of your PC, enabling the PSVR 2 to function properly and communicate with the rest of the system.

In addition, you will need a decent GPU to render high-quality virtual reality graphics. Once you have the software and GPU, you can connect your PSVR 2 headset directly to your GPU, and the PC will recognize the headset.

A realm of enchanting VR adventures, encompassing a broad range of titles not offered on the PlayStation platform opens up when you connect your PSVR 2 to a PC.

You can play popular VR titles such as Half-Life: Alyx, Blade and Sorcery and Boneworks, which is otherwise impossible. Before you head off, check out how PSVR 2’s PC support proves that console VR is a dead end.
