Every time you open a page on a web browser, it will store information in a cache. This is the same whether you are on a computer, a tablet or a mobile phone. Whether you're on Windows, Mac, iOS or Android, this is a fact that you should be constantly aware of.
Sometimes, you might need to clear cache, in order to prevent loading or formatting issues. It's an essential part of device maintenance that will help your devices stay faster for longer.
So how do you do this? Well, if you follow our guide, you'll be speedily clearing this data on your Android device in no time at all!
What is cache?
A cache is a storage location that collects data when you load a website or store information on a specific application. It's intended to help these sites load faster when you try to access them, and potentially reduce data usage.
But sometimes, an overly full cache can cause problems with a site loading properly. Not only can it completely ruin your browsing experience, but it can also take up precious space on your device. It may be an essential part of modern technology, but it's also not the smoothest part of internet browsing.
Here's what you need to do to empty your cache.
How to clear the cache on your Android phone
Open your Chrome app on your Android device.
Select 'More' - this is normally represented by 3 dots in the top right hand corner of the screen.
Next, tap 'History' and then 'Clear browsing data'.
There will be an option to choose a time range. If you want to delete everything, select 'All time'.
Check the box next to 'Cached images and files'.
Finally, tap 'Clear data' and your cache will be cleared.
