As we all grow up, become older, more world-weary, wiser, we all occasionally regret the choices we made when we were younger.
It's all a natural part of growing up, and while it's kind of annoying to be embarrassed by things you did years ago, it's not often that you really have to face up to it.
That is, unless the mistake you made years ago is still being worn upon you like a face tattoo. Not just any tattoo though, one that says XSniper69X or dreaminofmemin1999.
Good news though, you can change that embarrassing thing by just changing your online name, and here's how to do it in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
How to change your name in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in-game
So, the main way most people will do this is in-game. Therefore, you need to know how to do it, and this is what you need to do:
- Select the Options menu on the home screen
- Select the Account tab
- Select Activision Account
- Select Change Display name
- Enter whatever your new name is
- Select Confirm
Boom, you're free of your old ways, and you can step into the world a new person. What a rush, what a relief, what a way to live your life.

Of course, if you prefer to do things online, and by online, we mean via a website instead of your online game, then we can help there too.
- Head to your Activision Account
- Login to your Activision Account
- Select Basic Info
- Select the Edit button next to your Activision ID
- Enter your new name
- Select Save
Now you're who you wanted to be all along. Plus, you can actually change this every six months, which means you don't have to be embarrassed about who you are at the moment. At least, not in Call of Duty.
