Cloud-based gaming platform Google Stadia is an alternative option for gamers who are looking to play some of the latest titles without forking out for a console or an expensive, custom-built gaming PC. The Stadia service lets you stream games directly from a remote server, meaning that you can play games on your TV, computer or mobile device.
As well as a free membership that offers access to individual games for purchase, Stadia also boasts a ‘Pro’ subscription service. Stadia Pro offers subscribers unlimited access to a growing library of selected games for a monthly fee of £8.99. The current Stadia library includes (as of October 2020) games such as Destiny 2, Hitman and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and more games are added every month.
Stadia Pro is sure to become a more attractive prospect for gamers as the library gets bigger and the service moves more towards being a true ‘Netflix for games’ contender. However, it is facing stiff competition in the near future from two upcoming cloud gaming rivals – Microsoft’s ‘Project xCloud’ and Amazon’s Luna.
But what if you’ve already signed up for Stadia Pro and you’re thinking of quitting? How exactly do you unsubscribe from the service? And will you get to keep Stadia Pro games if you do? Read our guide below to find out.

Do you get to keep Stadia Pro games if you cancel?
In a word, no. If you cancel your Stadia Pro subscription, you’ll lose access to your free games. However, you will still be able to play them until the end of the current billing period. Your subscriptions will continue to appear in the Stadia app/website until they expire.
You might not be able to play the games after your subscription has ended, but your game data and progress will be saved (as long as you don’t delete your Stadia account completely). That means if you do eventually decide to restart your subscription, you can simply carry on where you left off.
To restart your Stadia Pro subscription while it's still active, select ‘Manage’ in the subscriptions menu. To resubscribe to Pro after your subscription ends, follow the steps at the Stadia Pro homepage.
