The feature of ‘appearing offline’ has been in so many applications, and the PS4 is no exception!

How to appear offline on PS4
To appear invisible to your friends, all you need to do is the following:
Fire up the PS4 home screen, and go to your profile.
Once your profile shows, go to the ‘Set Online Status’ box and highlight it.
You will be prompted to appear online or offline. Select ‘Appear Offline’, and voila, you are now invisible.

Why to appear offline on PS4
Setting it offline also applies to when you’re playing on PS Now or even on the Vita, so you will not be disturbed.
But to note, if you are playing a multiplayer session with friends, your status will appear ‘online’, so other friends may see this change on status. Whether if its a bug or how the PlayStation Network operates is unknown, but it’s something to be aware of.
All of this does make one wonder as to how the PS5 will also handle this; could you set it so that you appear ‘offline’ indefinitely to certain friends, or maybe even in custom groups, there’s a lot of room for improvement here.
