If you ever thought about making videos as a profession, then one of the first things you might be wondering is how to actually make money from it. So, let's look at one of the major social media apps on the market and let's find out: how much does TikTok pay you?
The social app has launched many careers in the last few years and, if you also have some great and original ideas to make videos, then the time might be right to start your own career path on TikTok.
But clearly, it has to be a sustainable path, so let's try to find out how much TikTok pay you as a content creator.
How much does TikTok pay you?
As opposed to YouTube or other platforms, TikTok does not directly pay its users for ad placement. Therefore, as a content creator, you're not earning money directly from TikTok but only using it to gather followers and engagement. TikTok is currently trialling biddable ads, but it has yet to make any specific statement in that regard.
But in 2021, TikTok launched a creator fund which allows users to gain money from posts based on the number of views. If you're accepted into the program, you can earn between 2 and 4 cents for every 1,000 views on TikTok.
That means you might earn between $20 and $40 for one million views on your posts. It's not much, but it's definitely one step in the right direction! So, jump onto the latest TikTok trends to go viral and earn money.

How to sign up for the TikTok creator fund
Not every account can sign up for the creator fund, as there are specific requirements. They are as follows:
- Be based in the UK, U.S., Germany, Italy, France or Spain;
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Have a Pro/Creator account;
- Minimum of 100.000 followers;
- Earned at least 100,000 views over the past 30 days;
- Full compliance with the app's terms of service and Community requirements.
Once you have applied and TikTok has approved your application, then you might start to earn money from the app. Clearly, it is also possible to gain money from TikTok by doing live streaming but it will be your viewers that will gift you money in that case, and not the app directly.
So, is a TikTok career in your future? It might, but in the meantime, you might want to get more out of the app, so check out our guides on how to add links to your TikTok bio and how to pin comments.
