Remnants of a cut Hogwarts Legacy companion system have made their way online, thanks to . These mods show that the player would have had more companions to choose from creating a more engaging system of friends than seen in the final game.

A post on the game’s subreddit shows that NPC Imelda Reyes has unique lines for a side quest she isn’t ever a part of. Thanks to a mod that allows you to have the character as a constant companion, we can now here the character’s unique dialogue.

This shows that characters did have lines made written for various quests across the main campaign. In fact, this might only be scratching the surface of cut content for the already-massive Wizarding World game.

Players from the Hogwarts Legacy subreddit have also confirmed that characters like Sebastian have similar lines for the quest, showing just how much work was done. This seems to indicate that the feature was cut mid-production, removing the ability for players to take their friends on their dangerous adventure.

Fans are hoping that more of the companion system comes back to the game in some kind of official capacity. Considering how DLC isn’t planned for the game, we can’t say for sure if there will be any updates that add this feature in the near future.

It really is a shame that the Hogwarts Legacy companion feature was but because it would have made living the Harry Potter fantasy better. While the finished game is a fine product on its own right, shame about who it benefits, the fact that your character does most of it alone is sad. Harry getting into shenanigans with Ron and Hermione is why the series is so beloved, making the cut even more baffling.

Still, even with the lack of a companion system, it’s clear that the game is doing really well right now. Despite the delay for PS4 and Xbox One, the Harry Potter RPG has already sold millions on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. Expect it to sell out even more on the Switch, even if that version ends up being buggy or having bad performance.
