Legendary Pictures’ Godzilla MonsterVerse is one of the few successful cinematic universes. While Marvel dominates and DC tenuously secures second place, the MonsterVerse rests happy on its third place podium.
After the exciting quadrilogy of movies culminated with the hilariously stupid but thoroughly entertaining Godzilla vs Kong, many thought the MonsterVerse was over. However, the decade-long cinematic universe will now continue on Apple TV+.
The Godzilla MonsterVerse continues
Announced by Legendary, the new MonsterVerse TV series will be the next major entry in the cinematic universe. While Netflix is producing an animated Skull Island TV show, this new untitled series will be first live-action continuation.
In a Twitter post, the production company announced that the upcoming show will focus on humanity's reaction to the reality of monsters. Additionally, the show will go into more of the “mythic legacy of a world in which monsters are real”.

When is the Godzilla Apple TV+ show set?
The official plot synopsis for the upcoming MonsterVerse TV show reveals that the series isn't set after Godzilla vs Kong. Instead, the show is seemingly set after the first movie back in 2014, the battle between the King of the Monsters and the M.U.T.Os.
Legendary's plot synopsis reads:
“Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real, the series explores one family's journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.”
This means that the show is likely on a smaller scale than the massive blockbuster movies the MonsterVerse is known for. However, it has a chance to show more of the cinematic universe than ever before, create new monsters and offer a compelling family story.

Will there be any more MonsterVerse movies?
While not confirmed, Legendary is likely looking into creating more movies in the MonsterVerse. The partnership between the company with Godzilla company Toho looks to be continuing with the creation of the new MonsterVerse TV show.
However, future movies in the cinematic universe might not feature the same characters we know and love. Godzilla vs Kong director Adam Wingard has expressed a desire to focus on a new generation of monsters, starting with Son of Godzilla.
