God of War: Ragnarok was one of the best games out last year, so it’s no surprise that Sony already wants a sequel. A job listing from Sony Santa Monica has made it abundantly clear that the company is working on another entry in the series.
On the Sony Santa Monica website, a job listing for Combat Designer caught the attention of many. While most job listings are vague, this one blatantly says that knowledge of God of War and its sequel are requirements.
“Must have knowledge of God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok (2022) and be able to speak in depth about the combat systems, mechanics, and enemies,” lists one of the job requirements.
Fans figured that a sequel was on the way, given how the ending of Ragnarok played out. Without spoiling anything, the ending made it clear that Kratos will be having more adventures in the future with unexpected allies. There’s definitely a ton of interest in seeing what mythology Kratos will take on next, given the possibilities.
Since Ragnarok came out fairly early in the PS5’s life, it’s not out of the question to expect a sequel on the same platform. It was always doubtful to assume that fans would have to wait until the PlayStation 6 to get the next instalment. Then again, Sony might want to wait for a generational leap in technology.
God of War is expected to be in the limelight soon, with a live-action Amazon series reportedly in the works. Unfortunately, the show is heading straight to the PS4 game and will seemingly ignore the PS2 titles. New Game Plus also came to God of War: Ragnarok this year, letting fans re-experience the adventure with stronger enemies.
