If you're ready to get back to war, The Coalition is ready to deliver. Yes, we are talking about the latest Gears of War title which is definitely going to be worth the wait, as it will be "impressive". Or at least that's what Jez Corden, editor on Windows Central, has said on Twitter recently.

While we have recently reported on People Can Fly being busy with Microsoft on a AAA title (which may or may not have to do with Gears of War), The Coalition is apparently 100% busy on the sixth title in the Gears of War series. But let's go through what we know.

Which is honestly, not much. We know that Coalition, back in 2021, reported - in a blog post - that the studio was now using Unreal Engine 5, which ended up being a significant undertaking for the studio. So that they weren't "announcing any new projects or titles for some time," Coalition reported.

What about the story? Well, Gears 5 ended up with an important decision for the player, in the role of Kait Diaz. They could decide to save either JD or Del, so Coalition, if they want to continue the story, will have to make one of those endings canon. Unless they are going to go in a completely different direction, storywise.

Remains to be seen if the studio will want to deep dive on the RPG aspects we have seen introduced in Gears 5 or bring the focus more on the pure action gameplay. But considering how popular RPG features have been in the latest few years, we are pretty sure they won't abandon those RPG progression mechanics.

So while we are 100% sure that we are not seeing a Gears of War 6 release in 2023, we are also definitely keeping our fingers crossed for next year. Perhaps we'll also see the return of Marcus Phoenix? Who knows, we only have to wait, patiently.
