As the best language learning app, Duolingo consistently introduces innovative features to keep users motivated in their learning journey. The newest addition, the Friend Streak, is the latest strategy by Duolingo to keep users engaged.
Streaks have proven effective in motivating users to return to apps daily and complete objectives to keep the streak alive, as seen with Snapchat and TikTok. Now, Duolingo is adopting this strategy with its own Friend Streak feature.
In this guide, we will explore how the Friend Streak feature works on Duolingo. Although Duolingo has not yet provided detailed information, we will do our best to explain the feature based on our current understanding.
What Is a Friend Streak on Duolingo?
A Friend Streak on Duolingo is like a Snapstreak on Snapchat, where you and a friend commit to completing a daily lesson to keep a consecutive day streak going. If both of you do your lesson each day, the streak number increases.
It’s unclear whether you need to complete a separate lesson for each friend or if one lesson will count towards maintaining the streak for all the friend streaks you are part of. Duolingo will clarify this when the feature is officially announced.
You can add up to five friends to a Friend Streak by either sending them invites or accepting their requests. Once added, they cannot be manually removed, but they will be automatically removed if either you or they fail to maintain the streak.
Currently, the Friend Streak feature on Duolingo isn't available to all users. If some of your friends are missing from the suggested list for adding to your Friend Streak, it's likely because they haven't yet received access to this feature.
