After many years of waiting, Square Enix has finally revealed when the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series is coming to PS4 and Switch. While these remasters are readily available on PC and mobile phones, fans really wanted to play these games on these specific consoles.
Square Enix revealed that the Pixel Remasters of the first six Final Fantasy games are coming to PS4 and Switch on April 19. It’s been a long wait for these games to come to consoles so we’re happy that they’re going to come later this month, rather than months from now.
The first two games in the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series will cost $11.99 while 3 to 6 will are priced at $17.99 each. Conversely, fans that want all three games can purchase a bundle that costs a staggering $74.99. While that costs a lot, it’s worth noting that these are long and mostly fulfilling JRPGs.
In addition to making their console debut, some improvements have been made to make these games feel more faithful to their original releases. Reimagined sprites aside, a new font option is available and looks much better than the previous releases for PC and mobile. Players will also be able to switch between the original and modernized soundtracks.
Unfortunately, the physical edition that collects the whole Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series is still sold out, so fans won’t be able to get it. Thankfully, fans can still purchase the version from PlayAsia since the US edition doesn’t appear to be restocking anytime soon.
Either way, fans will finally get to relive these experiences on their console of choice. Gamers have been begging Square Enix to port these games to consoles ever since they were announced, so it’s nice to finally get them. Here’s hoping that they launch without any major bugs or issues.
