The recently released Final Fantasy 16 demo is so good that even haters of the game are now pre-ordering it. Prior to this, many so-called were slamming the game for various things but a small touch of gameplay was enough to change their mind.
Gamers on social media have noticed that criticism of the game has lessened a tonne since the demo was released. Many fans were made once they started getting to know the characters and enjoying the combat system. It’s a beautiful thing to see, especially in a fandom as toxic as gaming.
“Square Enix gave the perfect demo for Final Fantasy XVI. I've even seen people who barely talk about FF, get super hooked and love it,” said @TropicalMaku. “I can't stop thinking about it. It really was the best move to drop it 10 days prior to game launch.”
“Final Fantasy XVI's opening hours are by far the strongest I've seen from any piece of media. Hearing everyone talk about how amazing it is still didn't do it enough justice,” enthusiastically chimed in @FishFriedCat. “The only negative thing I have to say is the game is over a week away so I'm suffering.”
“I have never seen the hate for a game evaporate quite like this lol,” said @NightSkyPrince_. “I’m not saying there aren’t still haters, but holy fuck has the discourse on FF16 done a 180.”
Considering all of the praise we’re seeing, there’s a very good chance that Final Fantasy 16 will be a Game of the Year contender. Maybe it’s the super good dog or the awesome-looking combat but this is looking like a must-have. If any PS5 game can be considered a “killer app,” it’s this game, hands down.

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait too long for the game, as Final Fantasy 16 comes to PS5 on June 22. Expect a port for PC sometime in the next year or so.
