FIFA 21's release this year was later FIFA's usual release date in mid-to-late September, launching on October 6 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic disrupting both EAs plans and the wider footballing world in general.
This delay put FIFA's launch even closer to the next generation of consoles, which released in November 2020 following months of anticipation. If you decided to hold out on the iconic football series until you bought a PS5 or Xbox Series X, you might be wondering what the differences are.
Know that both the latest FIFA game and the next-gen consoles are available to buy, here's everything you need to decide which version of FIFA to get for your PlayStation console.

Interestingly, FIFA 21 is not currently available in a sole PS5 version, with this edition releasing on December 4 2020. However, when the game launches, it will retail for a higher price than the PS4 version that came out in October.
With this price difference comes the upgrades of playing a game on the PS5. Players will be able to make use of the PlayStation 5's SSD to kick off in mere seconds, rather than enduring long loading times.
Alongside this comes the graphical upgrades, with EA utilising the next-gen raytracing technology to create even more realistic player models, a more immersive environment and stadium atmosphere, and improved animations.
The PS5 version will also utilise the DualSense's Haptic Feedback, allowing you to feel every kick of the ball like never before.

In short, if you want performance, then go for PS5, but if you don't want to buy a new console just yet, then go for the PS4 version. The good news though, is that you don't actually have to choose, and that's thanks to Dual Entitlement.

What is Dual Entitlement?
Dual Entitlement is a scheme run by EA that basically means that anyone who buys the PS4 or Xbox One version of FIFA 21 will also get the PS5 or Xbox Series X version. It's a bit like Microsoft's Smart Delivery.
So, that means that you don't actually have to worry about which version you buy. There are some rules of course, for example, you need to stick to the same console manufacturer.
Also, if you buy the physical version of the game, you'll need to be able to put that disc into your console to be able to download it. That means keep that in mind if you're going diskless in the next-gen.
