If his Saturday Night Live episode showed us anything, it’s that Elon Musk doesn’t understand humour. The Tesla CEO — and claimed “founder” — proved his inability to create worthy zingers in an online battle against comedy website The Hard Drive.
However, it was less of a battle and more of a slaughter.
How Musk vs Hard Drive started
The fight started when Musk shared a cropped image of Hard Drive's hilarious article “Zodiac Killer Letter Solved by Opening it with VLC Media Player”. In the post, Musk had removed all mention of the website, sharing just the headline and image with all the grace of a Facebook mum.
Musk's joke-theft led to the website replying with a link to the article, saying: “Hey I’ll give u a horse if you stop cropping our name off our articles.”
For those unaware, this is a direct reference to Musk's offering to a SpaceX flight attendant to stay quiet.
Elon Musk then stepped to gain the high ground by claiming their joke was just a “6/10”. The billionaire got obliterated when Hard Drive shared another humorous article stating the SpaceX owner wants to move to Mars because “no one hates him there yet.” The billionaire tried to compare it to a bad SNL skit before the website reminded him he was in charge of some infamously bad SNL skits.
Finally, Musk’s trump card involved claiming that Hard Drive wasn’t funny because “they were woke.” The multi-billionaire with nothing better to do responded:
“The reason you’re not that funny is because you’re woke. Humor relies on an intuitive & often awkward truth being recognized by the audience, but wokism is a lie, which is why nobody laughs.”
Needless to say, we all cringed when he said that.

Hard Drive’s “Apology”
After that fiasco, Hard Drive released an “apology” article for “dunking” on the billionaire “too hard”. In the article, they recap the entire mess, including Musk's attempts at a clapback, while giving some of the most insincere acts of forgiveness.
Ultimately, this doesn’t really affect Musk too much since he’s a billionaire who attempted to buy Twitter despite the fact he may not be able to afford it. However, with everything the billionaire has done over the past few years, it's gratifying to see him get taken down a peg.
