Bethesda has shocked mobile gamers by stealth-dropping The Elder Scrolls: Castles on Android devices with no prior announcement. Fans of Fallout: Shelter will be happy with this release, as it essentially looks like the same game but with a Skyrim skin.
Like Shelter before it, Castles is a free-to-play app that lets players customize their castles and partake in various quests. They also have to take care of the people in this castle, while also training soldiers who can take on the various monsters that roam around The Elder Scrolls.
Unsurprisingly, that sounds just like Fallout: Shelter, so those who don’t like the nuclear wasteland setting can check out The Elder Scrolls: Castles instead on Android. It will be interesting to see fan reception towards this app, especially since Shelter really managed to gain a huge fanbase.
Castles isn’t the first Elder Scrolls mobile game believe it or not, as Bethesda previously released The Elder Scrolls: Blades on mobile. For the most part, this was a fine enough free-to-play RPG, though fans did feel that it leaned towards pay-to-play a lot. At the least, Nintendo Switch fans can use motion controls for combat, which is a neat feature.
Bethesda is also officially working on Elder Scrolls VI, after announcing it way too early. They still have various commitments to Starfield, including additional stories via DLC and fixing various bugs.
