Dragon Quest 11 demo: How to play the 10-hour free demo on PS4, Xbox One or PC

Demos for games tend to be something that don't pop up as much anymore.

Many years ago you could get demo disks with loads of different games on them, and they often lead to you wanting to find those games when they came out. Put simply, it's good marketing.

Well, it turns out that Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition now has a demo on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

There's something incredibly cool about this demo though, and we think it should become the norm for the industry.

Dragon Quest 11 has a very special demo

The demo is already out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and you can go ahead and download it now if you want to.

What's really cool about this demo, other than the fact that it's 10 hours long, is the fact that your progress actually carries over into the main game if you decide to play through it.

That means you can play it safe in the knowledge that not only have you not paid anything but that you won't have to repeat anything.

It's an incredible way of doing a demo that could see a huge boost in sales for the title.

Should more companies do this?

Ideally, yes. However, there are lots of reasons why they might not.

Maybe the game doesn't demo well, maybe it's only a couple of hours long, or maybe the effort that has to go into it simply isn't worth it.

Whatever the reasons are, it's an understandable thing not to do. But, if more companies did it it's hard to imagine it not leading to more sales if the game itself is good.
