The DJI Mini 3 Pro, after a long run of leaks, has finally been released into the wild.

As the follow up to the hugely successful DJI Mini 2 it looks to be one of the best drones of the year, or even one of the best drones for beginners, given its rather beefy spec sheet, which we'll get into more details on below.

People had thought the drone would be announced at the latest DJI Enterprise event, which saw the new Matrice 30 and its incredible docking station revealed, but DJI ended up giving its new drone its own launch event.

So, without further ado, let's take a look at DJI's latest mini marvel.

DJI Mini 3 Pro Release Date

The DJI Mini 3 Pro was announced at its own dedicated launch event on May 10th, entitled 'A Twist In The Plot', and is available to pre-order now from a range of retailers, including Amazon and DJI directly.

However, there is still a bit of a wait before you can get the drone in hand. For instance, on Amazon USA, the drone isn't available until 1st August 2022. In the UK, the drone has been fully released, having been available since 17th May 2022.

DJI Mini 3 Pro Specs & Features

As for specs, the Mini 3 Pro looks to pack quite the punch, coming with some rather good features and high-level specs.

First things first, you'll find it utilises a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, which effectively gives you a 48MP sensor. This will allow you to take 4K video at up to 60fps, as well as in 2.7K and 1080p at 60fps.

Its flight time, with the standard battery, is 34 minutes, whilst with the Intelligent Battery Plus, this increases to 48 minutes, giving you plenty of time to get acquainted with your new drone, which helps to make this one of the best drones for battery life, upon its full release.

Perhaps its landmark feature is its tri-directional obstacle sensing that can enhance safety, as well as its APAS 4.0 system that can detect and avoid obstacles in real-time, keeping your drone safe.

You can also pick the Mini 3 Pro up with an upgraded remote control unit, known as the DJI RC, that comes with its own in-built screen, and saves you downloading the DJI app and using your phone in conjunction with the controller.

As for weight, the Mini 3 Pro clocks in at 249g, which is not only super-light, but also has a handy advantage.

Generally speaking, if a drone comes in at under 250g the chances of having to register it are lowered. An example from the folks at TechRadar was that drones under 250g don't have to registered with the Federal Aviation Administration, and we can sure see an advantage for those looking to get going straight out of the box.

DJI Mini 3 Pro Price

As for pricing, you've got a couple of different options for bundles to buy, as is typical for DJI.

If you've already got a DJI controller, and you just want the drone itself, it'll run you £639/$669, whilst for the standard kit with the older style controller, that's £709/$759.

With that being said, if you want the new DJI RC Smart Controller with the Mini 3 Pro, this. is the most expensive option, coating £859/$909.

This represents quite a significant price increase on the Mini 2, which launched for £419/$449 back in November 2020, but for our money, this does look like quite a big upgrade.
