December isn't just a time for Christmas; it's also a time for tech giants to host awards to apps and games that have achieved huge downloads and great experiences throughout their releases.
Google have been hosting a 'Best of' for several years now, and today they announced the 'best app' being Disney+, the streaming service by the Mickey Mouse company.
The overall best app for last year was a video effects app, so to see a streaming app win the 'Best Off' is a testament to what 2020 has brought.
With that, lets go further into Disney+, alongside the other apps that won.
Disney+ as Best App!
It's reasonable to think that if a pandemic didn't take over 2020, a streaming app wouldn't have won this, but in the grand scheme of things, it makes total sense.
The service launched in November of last year in USA and other countries, and then select European countries, including the UK, in March of this year.
The library offered is huge, considering the IP they own, such as Marvel, Star Wars alongside the first season of 'The Mandalorian', and so much nostalgia from the Disney Channel it's all one would want from a streaming service.
From the 90's X-Men and Spider-Man cartoons to fantastic documentaries on the animation departments, the app has been able to be used on millions of devices throughout lockdown for many, and have clearly given customers a sense of comfort, something as unique as Disney can only do.
