Activision Blizzard has announced that Diablo 3 will stop receiving new content after Season 29. The developers have stated that they will be focusing on Diablo 2 from here on out, hence the minimal support for its predecessor.

During an interview with WoWhead, Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson spoke on the future of Diablo 3. Fergusson stated that Season 29 would be the last season of the game to have new content and it won’t be as feature-rich as Season 28. Starting with Season 30, the game will cycle through previous events.

Continuing on about the game’s future, Fergusson stated that the next few seasons will have a mixture of previous cosmetics and rewards. New content won’t be coming to the game anymore as all development will now be focused on Diablo 4. This probably won’t surprise anyone since the sequel will need plenty of support to be successful.

While it’s a bit sad, players will still be able to play Diablo 3 so this isn’t a huge negative. Sure, not having new content to play through sounds disappointing but we are getting a sequel soon. As long as the game is still readily available and playable for years to come, then this is a fine ending.

Diablo 3 first came out on May 2012 and has been going strong for a decade. Originally coming out on PC, it soon came to PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. No matter the version, fans always had a good time hacking and slashing through various dungeons to power up their character.

Gamers will be getting their hands on Diablo 4 this June, which seems to be a great experience if the beta is anything to go by. Aside from improved gameplay and good visuals, fans are also loving the character customization, which has led to many muscular beauties being made.
