Cyberpunk 2077 and Skyrim have a thing in common - both games utilize the inclusion of game mods.
Game modding can be seen on most games today. Skyrim has been known to maximize that feature, creating a massive following from players through the years. And Cyberpunk might just follow its footsteps.
Here are some factors on how Cyberpunk 2077 could become "the next Skyrim."
Cyberpunk 2077 relies more on the modders
As Forbes says, the more engaging experience of the game comes from various game mods created by the fans. It includes the mod that can give you a "full chrome" V, as well as the third person perspective mods.
All of these enhance Cyberpunk 2077, of course. But if CD Projekt continues to rely more on the modders to keep the game relevant, then it may eventually collapse.
Just like the experience of Skyrim, depending too much on the hype of game modding during its earlier days may lead to an unsustainable long run. What happens, for example, when modders or the fans stop being committed to keeping the game relevant?
As a side note: another similarity between Skyrim and Cyberpunk 2077 could arguably be found in the fact that developers seem keen to put both games on every platform possible. For example, Elon Musk is already saying that some of his Tesla cars will be able to run Cyberpunk 2077 on their built-in PC. For years, we've seen stories like that about Skyrim being dropped on weird platforms!

What Cyberpunk 2077 devs must do
CD Projekt must step up their A-game. Simply putting Cyberpunk 2077 on weird new platforms will not be enough to keep it relevant, even if that approach has certainly helped Skyrim.
Cyberpunk 2077 has been in the hot seat ever since it was released last December. Various issues such as game bugs, and inappropriate game mods (as reported by mysmartprice) eventually emerged on the web.
The game devs claimed that they already addressed some of the issues Cyberpunk 2077 has faced. But their presence as the primary authority driving the game itself could still be improved. Fixing bugs is one thing, but giving fans a reason to stay engaged is another.
Skyrim was released over a decade ago. And it still has some audience up to this date. Although it could have been sustained much more during its downward years. And we hope Cyberpunk 2077 will take a different path.
