The sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 has been officially revealed in the weirdest way possible. Rather than a press release or a fancy CGI trailer, the game’s existence was revealed via a job listing. It’s not speculation either, as the listing itself confirms that the sequel to this sci-fi RPG is being made.
An official “spontaneous application” listing is for, we kid you not, a chance to work on the game’s official sequel. Usually, gaming companies try to be vague about the projects they’re working on but not in this case. Perhaps a sequel to the game is already being planned but to let the cat out of the bag this early is unexpected.
What makes the news even weirder is that Cyberpunk 2077 is still getting an expansion and additional DLC. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty doesn’t have a release date yet, though most are expecting it to be released in the second half of the year. The fact that news of a sequel came before this expansion is just odd.
Hopefully, CD Projekt Red learns from its mistakes and doesn’t rush the development of this sequel. Many still remember the state the original game was in when it first came out. The PS4 and Xbox One versions looked gross and played just as badly. While the PC version was playable, it was also filled with game-breaking bugs.
Now that we’re in 2023, Cyberpunk 2077 is officially a good game. Most of the bugs have been fixed and the versions for PS5 and Xbox Series run perfectly. While it doesn’t make up for the poor last-gen optimization, CD Projekt Red gave those players a free upgrade path for when they purchased the newer consoles.

Helping the game regain steam was Netflix’s excellent Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime. Despite only being 10 episodes long, the show helped regain interest in the game, to the point that it was selling well again. Thankfully, fans got a solid RPG this time, albeit with a few bugs here and there.
