In an odd move, Capcom removed the raytracing features for the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes. This has confused many players since the company touted these features as next-gen options for these games. Needless to say, their sudden removal makes no sense.

Fans on Reddit let it be known that they can no longer access the raytracing features for the games. Apparently, they tried to look for raytracing toggles in the options menu and they were just gone without a trace (kek).

Oddly enough, Capcom has not revealed why they decided to remove the raytracing features for the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3. Most of us figured that they would release a quick update about this but there’s still nothing after several days. The fact this happened during the weekend when people have the freest time just added insult to injury.

Admittedly, these games already look great so one could argue that raytracing isn’t needed. However, the fact that Capcom touted them as a major feature for these remakes does make their removal infuriating. They really should have released a warning about this as gamers might be too used to their settings.

Since games are almost always online these days, Capcom should eventually release a fix for the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes. There’s always a chance that a bug was caused by these features or maybe even removed them by accident. As it stands, there’s no way the company did this on purpose after hyping them up.

Thankfully, the recently-released Resident Evil 4 remake has raytracing and other features that make the game look better. It’s also a pretty great remake, updating the visuals, making the story more coherent, and giving characters like Luis more time to shine.
