Can Xbox Series X/S go on its side HORIZONTALLY, or does it have to be standing up in your front room?

When you look to buy something, you want to make sure that it fits just right in the home, whether if thats in the front room, the bedroom or even just the bathroom.

When it comes to the next-gen consoles, it’s important where it needs to go, and if its acceptable to the partner, otherwise you may be seeing it in CEX for sale not long after.

After the unveil of the PS5 console, it’s clear that it’s meant to be stood up, especially as its height rivals many PC towers and small trees.

But when it comes to the Xbox Series X, people have wondered whether the Series X can lay on its side or stand up as shown in the promo images.

It’s Still Standing

When the console was unveiled late last year, people likened it to a fridge; one that you would either have in your dorm room at University, or just something in similar-shape to what your parents’ fridge looks like.

It was certainly basic, but it did its job in carrying on the design-trend of the Xbox One, all the way back to its unveiling in 2013.

But with the Series X, it’s a dilemma, as every press shot and video that Microsoft has shown so far, has the console standing up, ready to go for its ’Halo Infinite’ or ’Fable‘ time.

Luckily, soon after the design of the Series X was confirmed, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer confirmed that the console is “designed to support both vertical and horizontal orientation.”

Laying on the Side

Now that it’s confirmed that the console can be positioned on its side, another question is how the rumoured ‘Series S’ will look like.

From past releases of ‘S’ consoles, we can take solace in the fact that it will be a smaller design, but powerful enough to rival the PlayStation 5. As the Xbox One X has been discontinued, one can’t help but think that this may be because it now paves the way for a ‘Series S’ at a similar price point.

It’s a tantalising thought if Microsoft announces both prices for both consoles this month, as a way of making it easier for someone to be introduced to the next-gen Xbox consoles.

But for now anyway, we can take solace in the fact that we can fit our next-gen Xbox consoles into our front rooms with no issues. For now anyway.
